Education -The Power of Blended Learning

Only a few years after online lectures began to gain popularity, mainstream education institutions started to talk about the prospects of the so-called blended education. The essence of this is that courses of the best teachers become the basis for studying in other universities, and students’ online progress is transferred to diplomas. This approach aims to combine the best of offline and online in academic education also called blended learning. According to experts, in this way, it is possible to bring education to a qualitatively new level. After all, only the best local teachers and universities will be able to compete with the lecturers of world universities.

Moreover, it became clear that the potential of class takers online education is greater than taking lectures online. The Internet made learning accessible to the wider masses of people. It completely changed the very approach to the learning process.

Low Percentage In Student’s Education

One of the main arguments of opponents of online education is the low percentage of students who complete courses online. That is, very often, after registering for a course and listening to the first few lectures, users drop out. The reason for this is not only a lack of motivation, without which any self-study is simply impossible. It turned out that the main problem lies deeper. Most of the online courses were an attempt to simply transfer university “long education” to the online format. The topics and structure of lectures, time frames, and forms of control have been preserved. The only thing that has changed is the broadcast channel. Now, there is an opportunity to listen to lectures and take tests; not in a university audience, but at home in front of a laptop screen.

Lack Of Time And Motivation

The transfer of courses from universities to the Internet made knowledge more accessible but did not solve the problems namely; lack of time and motivation. What if you don’t have the opportunity to devote a significant part of your time sitting at the university desk? As well as listening to one-hour theoretical lectures, even from the best teachers in the world? In the context of a dynamic change in the market, the need to improve the level of their qualifications is urgent than ever.

Different Platforms

This, in turn, provides a significant advantage when looking for a new job. That is why following the platforms that provide access to online courses has begun to develop more and more actively. They chose a different path – structuring educational content, changing presentation formats, and focusing on practical professional topics. The result is an opportunity to study a small amount of information that can be immediately put into practice. These services are Udacity, Udemy, Lynda, and many others.

Education Online Formats

The ability to acquire new qualifications or update an existing one, short online formats have made it more accessible. A variety of masterclasses, tutorials, videos can help you learn what you have long wanted. However, as always, time was sorely lacking.

Another field in which online education easily outperforms classical education is the dynamics of changes in transmitted knowledge. Today, when science and technology are developing rapidly than ever, the question arises; how rational it is to create new textbooks and manuals? Since every year, they become outdated faster and faster.

The same is true for university courses that transfer to the online format. At the same time, shorter courses or tutorials from professional practitioners update much more often. Which means that the information will remain relevant for much longer.

But, with all the obvious advantages of online, its main disadvantages are still maintaining student motivation. Moreover, we also need to address the lack of direct contact between students and teachers. If external factors are always present offline; a schedule of classes, control of absenteeism, or a time frame, students have a hard time self-organizing. Often, people face with the fact that they cannot reach the end of the online training program because there will be no sanctions if they do not take the course or master a specific skill. But the problem here is more likely in the lack of self-organization skills and not in the form of training.
